Pillars of Health

Nutrition

Evidence shows that a whole food plant-based diet is the most beneficial way to prevent, treat and reverse chronic disease.

Sleep and Rest

Regular rest and quality sleep helps the body repair damage, replenish its vitality, and integrate new experiences and information.

Movement

Any kind of movement done regularly that stretches, strengthens, and challenges the physical tissues of the body can support longevity.

Hygiene

Routine practices that tend to cleanliness and organization are sources of stability as well as prevention against decay and disorder.

Harm Reduction

While it is impossible to avoid all harm, the body, mind, and spirit benefit from minimizing toxicities.

Connection to Nature

Situating ourselves in resonance with natural forces creates a sense of belonging that satisfies deep human needs.

Relationships

Recognition that our own experience is inextricably tied to other organisms, people, culture, memories, etc. can offer perspective for growth and change.

Stewardship and Service

Our own health and that of future generations is dependent on the well-being of our planet and our communities.

humanism

THERE IS INHERENT VALUE IN LIFE

We challenge the idea that health and healing are commodities to be consumed.

We actively resist the pathologizing of people as they face challenges or meet opportunities for growth. People are inherently whole and deserve to be understood as such.

Our clinical decision making is guided by the medical ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-malfeasance, and justice.

access

ALL PEOPLE DESERVE CARE

Emilyโ€™s practice is in service of all beings. She believes that medicine should be accessible and affordable to all people. Towards that end, she actively challenge attitudes that are sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, classist, sizeist in her classes, workshops, trainings and practices. Her office is wheelchair accessible and she is committed to making your experience as comfortable as possible.

Please contact Emily directly for more information or to discuss your specific needs, including her sliding-scale model. No person will be turned away due to financial constraints.

community

WE ARE ALL CONNECTED

Beyond their practice, the Tulsi Team is invested in educational programming that supports strong community networks and access to reliable information that furthers the development of medicine and health care.

We are working to address public health issues in order to overcome structural injustices that impact health for women and communities across generations. This is especially evident in their incorporation of Environmental Medicine into their clinic care.

ethics

GIVE MORE TO GET MORE

Ethical issues in the herbal supplement manufacturing include the quality of herbal material, the manufacturing process of prepared remedies, and the fair wages of workers throughout the supply chain. She investigates, to the best of her ability, how any recommended remedies were grown, harvested, prepared, formulated, packaged, and shipped.

Any inorganic materials used in the apothecary are carefully chosen to minimize ecological burden. She is committed to reducing exposure to toxic chemicals that tend to accumulate throughout the supply chain.

The herbal products she stocks and recommends are made from organic, non-genetically-modified (non-GMO), wild-crafted, regenerative, or biodynamic sources. She focuses on herbs and remedies that can be found in regional habitats, that grow in abundance, or grown sustainably on local farms or in nurseries. Her apothecary also includes key Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs from non-local sources.
